Woman Discovers Child Porn On Laptop Purchased From Pawn Shop
ANDERSON, SC –
Cassandra Martin needed a computer for college so she came to City Pawn Shop. Police say the computer she took home contained pornographic images and videos of children.
“I was shocked,” Martin said.
A computer technician found the pictures while hooking up internet access. Martin says that technician told her to have her hard drive wiped.
“He told me to get it cleaned out and I can keep it,” Martin said.
But police say that is exactly what your not supposed to do.
“If you see anything that doesn’t seem right, child pornography or something of that effect contact your local police or sheriff department. They will come out and let you know what you need to do from there,” Lieutenant Tony Tilley of the Anderson City Police said.
Police are working with City View Pawn Shop to figure out who’s responsible for putting the pictures on the computer.
“I dont think you can hold them responsible for selling something they have no knowledge of,” Tilley said.
The pawn shop will give police a copy of the sellers driver’s license and all his information.
But police say tracking down the person who either downloaded or created the images may be impossible.
“So many hands could have access to that computer system,” Tilley said.
Martin simply wants the person responsible to get what they deserve.
“They need to be prosecuted,” Martin said.
That’s exactly what police will do when they catch the person behind the crime.
Police say it’s still early in the investigation and they have not been able to identify any of the minors involved in the photos or videos.
