One on one service from small-town computer shop

WESTPORT — The co-owners of Fourtech want to make sure that their customers computers and networks never fail them.

Opened recently in the Westport Village Commons at 780 Main Road, the unassuming office is next to Sisters of the Wool.

The computer shop, owned by local Matt Wakeman and Stefan Grein, has computers and accessories for sale and provides services for the home and business.

Inside, a back wall is filled with to-be-fixed computers and displays of Lenovo brand computers and parts line the waiting area.

Their slogan, said Mr. Wakeman, is “IT professionals that speak your language.”

What makes them different than bigger companies is that when they sell a customer a product or set up software or a network, they “make sure the businesses and the home person can take advantage of it,” he said.

Instead of expecting the person to just figure out how to use it, they take the time to explain it one on one, he said. And with just the two of them, customers cannot be bounced around between different employees if they want to follow up.

While their office is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday (and by appointment), the men also travel to customers in Westport, Little Compton, Tiverton, and other surrounding towns.

One of their specialties is setting up business networks and making sure they keep working.

“When you’re in a business, you want your computer to work when you need it,” said Mr. Wakeman.

They don’t just patch problems as they arise, they look at the bigger picture and try to determine why the problems are arising, he said.

For home help, they offer a $79 flat rate for software issues, including virus and malware removal. Special in April and May is a “spring cleaning” promotion. Customers can have their computers dusted out and tuned up for $29.99. Dusting out a computer can help it run smoother, but if done improperly can cause damage to internal hardware.

Fourtech services both Macs and PCs. Stop in, visit their website at www.fourtechsupport.com (still under construction), or give them a call at 508-636-4112.
