A 28-year-old Joplin man was arrested Tuesday at his home and charged with the theft two weeks ago of a laptop computer from the Wal-Mart store at 1501 S. Range Line Road.

Police Cpl. Chuck Niess said store employees reported the Dec. 19 theft to police on Tuesday after discovering the crime on a surveillance tape. The tape reportedly showed that a man who asked to look at a laptop computer valued at $650 walked off with the item without paying for it.

Niess said Bobby A. Gonzalez, 28, was arrested at his home after police review of the tape. He was charged with felony stealing.
