Gloversville man accused of stealing laptop from Albany store

ALBANY – A Gloversville man was arrested for robbery on Central
Avenue in Albany. He is accused of stealing a laptop computer
from a convenience store.

Albany police said 37-year-old Jason Andrews of Gloversville went
to the New RA Grocery Store at 267 Central Avenue to speak
with the owner about an issue he was having with his laptop.

Earlier this month, Andrews sold the owner of the store a laptop
computer and last week the owner went to Andrews saying the
laptop did not work correctly.

Police said on Thursday night after the store closed, Andrews
drove to the store to talk to the owner about the laptop. The
owner unlocked the door of the store to allow Andrews inside and
then locked the door behind them.

While the two were talking, police said Andrews took the laptop
from the store’s counter and tried to run out the front door,
where he was stopped by the locked door. The owner tried to take
back the computer and witnesses on the sidewalk noticed the
incident and called police.

Andrews ran from the store and almost a hour and a half later
detectives caught up with him down the street and arrested him.

He was charged with robbery and was arraigned in the City
Criminal Court Friday morning. The owner suffered minor cuts
during the incident.
