Chinese PC maker Lenovo is reorganizing – Winston
RALEIGH –
Chinese PC maker Lenovo is reorganizing its business to upgrade its focus on the needs of customers in markets around the globe.
The company, which maintains a headquarters in Morrisville that employs 1,800 workers, said last week that it is creating four business units dedicated to specific geographic regions. The North America region will be led by David Schmook, senior vice president and currently general manager of North America.
The former CEO of rival PC maker Acer, Gianfranco Lanci, will run the company’s business in the EMEA region: Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The other regions, China and Asia Pacific/Latin America, will be led by current Lenovo executives. The reorganization goes into effect April 2.
Lenovo ranks second in worldwide PC sales, up from No. 4 a year ago.
