Candlelight Vigil to Honor Slain Store Owner

A candlelight vigil is planned for Wednesday night in honor of a Lancaster shop owner fatally shot during a robbery at his computer store on Friday.

The vigil is set for 7 p.m. at e-Chaps Computers and More, where Reed Keith was shot multiple times.

“It’s a time for memorial, a time for support, and a chance for the community to say goodbye to my father” daughter Casey Keith told the The Antelope Valley Times.

Keith, 59, was known as a computer genius – adept at fixing and debugging computers for his customers, often at no charge. He was shot multiple times during the robbery at his shop, located in a mini-mall where neighboring businesses include a hair salon, the gas company, a tax service and a Denny’s. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the vigil donations will be accepted for Keith’s wife, as the shopkeeper had no retirement fund or life insurance. The county is helping pay burial costs, and workers at the neighboring Denny’s donated their tips to the family.

The diner will provide free coffee to those attending the vigil at e-Chaps, located at 2007 W. Avenue K in Lancaster.

Casey Keith has asked those who plan to attend the vigil to bring candles.

With the help of details provided by an eyewitness, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has arrested two people in connection with the killing.

Timothy Johnson, 24, was charged with two counts of robbery, torture and special circumstances murder, with bail set at $1 million. During a search of Johnson’s home, police found several laptops and the victim’s wallet.

Lancaster resident Jinea Aarona Ingram, 24, identified as Johnson’s girlfriend, was arrested Tuesday for allegedly driving the getaway vehicle and charged as an accomplice for robbery and special circumstance murder.
